Research area: Fast and Secure Implementations of Cryptography and Computer-Network Security

Goal: Support and accelerate the development and adoption of security standards and efficient implementations of cryptography

Research projects:

Motivation:

We believe that results of our research will give new insights and tools to three, currently disjointed, groups of researchers and designers. For mathematicians involved in designing new cryptoalgorithms, who typically have little experience in engineering, this research will provide the means of designing better, more hardware-efficient algorithms. For designers of new generations of reconfigurable devices, with little knowledge of cryptography, this study will provide means of making these devices more suitable for cryptographic applications. For designers of digital circuits, who have little knowledge of either cryptology or details of hardware technologies, this research will provide means of creating better, more efficient hardware implementations. Finally, the group who will benefit most are everyday users of cryptography, who will be provided with user-friendly, more secure, and less expensive standardized cryptographic products.
